The Wheel of Time premieres with three episodes on Amazon Prime Video on Nov. 19, 2021. Spoiler-free review by Samantha Nelson.
The Wheel of Time is gorgeous, well-acted, and strongly written, a show that understands the characters and plot of Robert Jordan's books without being slavishly loyal to the source material. The first three episodes use a mix of gripping action and personal dramas to bring the pages to life while also providing an accessible introduction to series newcomers. The groundwork showrunner Rafe Judkins is laying shows he has a plan for the future. Hopefully, he will be given the time and money to see it through.

While on tour promoting her new book with Alan, Loretta is kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire (Daniel Radcliffe) who hopes that she can lead him to the ancient lost city's treasure from her latest story. Wanting to prove that he can be a hero in real life and not just on the pages of her books, Alan sets off to rescue her. Thrust into an epic jungle adventure, the unlikely pair will need to work together to survive the elements and find the ancient treasure before it's lost forever.
